Does Rent to Own Furniture Save You Money?

If you need furniture, but you have bad credit, or little-to-no credit, rent to own furniture may be right for you. There are pros and cons to be aware of, before you enter into a rent to own furniture agreement.
Pros
If you have bad credit, chances are you will not be able to find financing for the furniture you want to buy. If you have no credit, you may not get approved for a loan simply because the lender does not have an idea of how you manage your finances.
By renting your furniture, credit restrictions usually do not apply. You get the furniture you want right away, and make rental payments until it is paid for. In addition, if the furniture becomes damaged, you can sometimes have it replaced for free.
Cons
The furniture is not yours until it is paid for. This means that if you fall behind at any time during your rental period, the company can repossess your furniture. All of the money you have paid is then lost. If you think you are going to be late on a payment, contact the rental company to see if they will work out a payment plan with you.
